Interviews on 9/9/10

Don't forget...
On Thursday, you must come to class dressed to impress!  That is INTERVIEW ATTIRE.  What is that anyways?  Well, for females, nice dress slacks (black, navy, or brown) and a tailored dress blouse in white, or a neutral color, must have sleeves.  Remember, you want the client to remember YOU, not what you were or weren't wearing.  Shoes need to be clean, flats or low heels, in a neutral color.  No sandals, dressy flip-flops, or stilettos.  Closed toe shoes are the most appropriate. Make sure your make-up in conservative, hair clean, no body piercings or tattoos visible. In addition, you need to have a printed resume in your hands!  We will talk about this more in class, but you can start by collecting your work history/experiences including dates, numbers, and addresses.  Think about everything that you have done that sets you apart, clubs or activities you have participated in, honor roll, and volunteering.  You can find templates for resumes online for free.  If you have questions, let me know in class.  This is the first of many important interviews in your lifetime!  Be prepared, be yourself and be ready to shine!  Mrs. McCully

BMHS CNA Program to administer Health Screening for HUSD Students!

Every year, our CNA students at BMHS try to give back to our community.  This year, we will be partnering with HUSD nurses to help administer Health Screenings for all eligible HUSD students from Kindergarten through 9th grade.  59 students in the CNA program at BMHS (38 current CNA students and 21 returning seniors who finished the CNA program last year) will be going to all Elementary and Middle schools in HUSD on Tuesday, August 24th to assist our HUSD nurses administer the required Health Screenings.  Students will be divided between Coyote Springs Elementary, Granville Elementary, Liberty Traditional School, Lake Valley Elementary, Mountain View Elementary, Bradshaw Middle, and Glassford Hill Middles Schools, and will partner with these school nurses to provide screening to students.  BMHS CNA students have been training in all skills required and are excited to be helping out with our district and getting some hands-on experience so early in the school year.  This project came about when I saw how difficult it was for our our BMHS school nurse, Linda Schaetzle, to provide these health screenings here at the high school.  We have amazing talent here in our CNA program and are looking forward to helping our school nurses, while getting a great education in the process!
